In Yannick Ackah’s works, different forms, signs, and material fragments come together. His paintings create multilayered pictorial spaces in which personal experiences intersect with cultural and historical references. Colour, figuration, writing, and materiality become carriers of memory and meaning.
The catalogue accompanies Ackah’s first institutional solo exhibition, À la rencontre des images, at the Institut français Hamburg. Alongside works from different periods of his practice, it presents a new series of twelve works on paper created especially for the exhibition in 2026. The publication offers insight into Ackah’s multilayered visual language and his engagement with memory, identity, and cultural remembrance.
