The Berlin-based installation artist Karolin Schwab has been awarded this year's Young Artists' Prize of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The award will be presented by Minister of Culture Bettina Martin (SPD) on Saturday during the opening of the exhibition "Hier & Jetzt" at the Künstlerhaus Schloss Plüschow (district of Nordwestmecklenburg), the Künstlerhaus announced on Thursday. The prize money is 5,000 euros. An additional 3,000 euros will be used to finance a catalogue of the artist's work. Schwab was born in Stralsund in 1987 and studied fine arts in Greifswald, London and in Berlin with Ai Weiwei.
