Yannick Ackah and his multi-dimensional artworks

For the first time, the up-and-coming artist Yannick Ackah was in Europe at the end of November. At an event in Hamburg, he painted live in front of an audience.

A large canvas lies on the floor. All around are paints, fabrics, newspapers and brushes. A young man bends over the canvas, almost as if by chance he reaches for the materials with which he now begins to form the picture. Again and again he stops and looks at his work from further away. From the many colours, the canvas has become solid in the meantime, and through the materials he uses, the paintings achieve a plastic three-dimensionality....

The artist's name is Yannick Ackah. Ackah, who was born and raised in Côte d'Ivoire, is currently considered the rising African talent on the international art market. At the Berlin art fair "Positions", his works were sold out in no time at all and fetched prices of up to 40,000 euros. Now Ackah is in Europe for the first time. On 23 November, the 30-year-old artist painted live in front of an audience in Hamburg.
