GALERIE MELBYE-KONAN: GROUP EXHIBITION IN NEW PREMISES
Dr. Gisela Schütte, Welt am Sonntag, June 7, 2026
With the group exhibition RELATION(ES), Galerie Melbye-Konan will open its new exhibition space on 13 June 2026 at Heimhuder Straße 56 in Hamburg, housed in an 800 m² Gründerzeit villa. The presentation brings together works by Yannick Ackah, Nathalie David, François Martinache, Stellar Meris, Ngoye, Araks Sahakyan and Karolin Schwab, and is curated by Stella Melbye-Konan, assisted by Iris Zine Ikis.

Ackah combines Western and West African pictorial traditions, while Nathalie David works with delicate graphic interventions. François Martinache shifts between photographic and digital layers, moving between documentation and abstraction. Stellar Meris works with unstable painterly fields, Ngoye develops painting between figuration and dissolution, Araks Sahakyan creates hybrid visual spaces, and Karolin Schwab focuses on sculptural motifs.

With its expansion to 800 m², the gallery is opening its first exhibition space in a villa, creating entirely new possibilities for the presentation of contemporary art. The architecture, with its sightlines, transitions and sequence of rooms, becomes part of the exhibition itself, generating unique relationships and modes of perception.
