The title “The Sea Between Us” symbolizes both the separation and connection embodied by the sea — a vast, dynamic element linking cultures, histories, and ecosystems. This exhibition takes place in conjunction with the third United Nations World Ocean Conference (UNOC-3), hosted by France and Costa Rica, which will be held in Nice from June 9 to 13, 2025.
“With The Sea Between Us, we celebrate five years of artistic dialogue and cultural exchange. The exhibition is both a tribute and a call—to see the ocean not only as a space between us, but as a living thread that connects, inspires, and urgently calls for our care.”
— Stella Melbye-Konan, Gallery Director & Curator
The artworks range from sculptures and paintings to mixed-media pieces and conceptual installations. The artists create dialogues between aesthetics and activism, personal expression and global relevance. Whether through abstract underwater worlds, critical engagement with colonial environmental consequences, or the use of recycled materials, this exciting art exhibition in Hamburg invites visitors to reflect on the future of our planet.
